The letter from Jude is an amazing feat of literary excellence. The writing is clear, concise and thorough. In a mere twenty five verses we learn almost everything we need to know about keeping the church true to her mission, which is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every nation (Matt. 28:18-20). Jude’s letter was relevant to Christians in the first century AD and it has continued to be relevant to every Christian church in every culture in every time period.
The problems addressed by Jude are of such a fundamental nature that they occur even today. These problems are false teaching (heresy) and an unrepentant attitude toward sin. Such an attitude leads to a falling away from the true God (apostasy). Either of these problems can cause a congregation to move away from God and move toward theological and moral errors.
